Inhalt
Kommentar	In this course, we will examine the rapid political changes that took place in recent years in Turkey by taking into consideration the historical background and the global context. First, we will analyze the socio-economic and political history of late Ottoman Empire and Republic of Turkey. Than we will evaluate the recent political developments, particularly focusing on the rise of authoritarianism and the struggles for democracy. We will discuss about the human rights violations and changing meanings of citizenship in the last decade under the AKP government. The course will mainly be in English, but depending on students' requests it may contain some course material in Turkish.
