Communication Rights and Video Activism: Theory and Practice II

In the second part of this seminar – which will again also be open to Erasmus students who have just arrived – we will focus on making our own video (activist) film and on the analysis and methodology of films which we will watch. We will also look into the practice of different video activists around the world, one example will be the „Testimony Project“ in the USA and an current example of this in Israel; another one will be the „Kiribati Project“ on climate change and its consequences, which started at the beginning of this year as a participate video project to highlight the struggle of the inhabitants of this state comprising a number of islands in the Pacific ocean which are getting flooded more and more.

There will also be a chance of joining existing video projects already established in the first term or to set up one´s own project. And we will watch and analyze films and media pedagogical film projects which can help us find our own way of (video activist) filmmaking and media pegagogy.
