This is an English language course guided by a blend of approaches which include the Social Model of Disability and intersectional framings such as DisCrit and disability justice. The course will meet online once per month on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 PM as follows: April 9, May 14, June 11 and July 2. Under the approaches mentioned above, the course's purpose is to critically explore the intersecting links between disability, immigration, race, gender and class. Its learning objectives are:
1) Understand the meaning of disability intersectionality as a movement against interlocking forms of oppression
2) Understand the practical meaning of disability justice
3) Discuss ableism and anti-ableist possibilities at the intersection of immigration and disability. |
