Content - Kollek The major aim of this course is to enhance the scientific abilities of the participants. Basic social-science methodology will be introduced which has been successfully applied for social work research projects in the past. Using the English language in this context appears all the more useful as important contributions have been published in English. The topics are linked to the decisive parts of research processes, including literature review, the formulation of hypotheses, research design, empirical methods, data collection and data analysis using statistical and data analytical procedures and computer programs. This seminar is organised around a minor research project. Participants will take part in all steps and thus learn the important topics with „hands on experiences". The practical approach is complemented by discussing parts of the suggested textbook. There will be written test at the end of each semester.
