News ASH-An-Institut IB&P supports petition to safeguard Disability Studies in Germany

Together with over 2,500 signatories, the IB&P is campaigning against cuts in inclusive research.

The ABiD Institute for Disability & Participation (IB&P), an affiliated institute of the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin, has signed a nationwide petition to strengthen Disability Studies. More than 2,500 institutions and individuals have already turned against the threat of cuts that endanger central institutions for inclusive research.

"It is unacceptable that institutional cornerstones of inclusive research, such as the 'Centre for Disability Studies and Participation Research' (ZeDiSplus) in Hamburg or the 'International Research Centre for Disability Studies' (iDiS) in Cologne, are now threatened by funding cuts and even endangered in their existence," explained Dr. Karsten Lippmann, Chairman of IB&P.

"At our institute, we often experience the fruitful approaches that arise when scientists with and without disabilities work together or discuss issues with students. Inclusive research is part of a diverse scientific landscape. Politicians are called upon to live up to their responsibility here," says Lippmann.
