University Life ASH Berlin in the top group of the CEWS university ranking on gender equality

ASH Berlin is one of Germany's leading universities of applied sciences in terms of gender equality.

Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin (ASH Berlin) has achieved a major success in the latest university ranking for gender equality in 2025 by the Competence Center for Women in Science and Research (CEWS) . While it was ranked in second place in the last ranking from 2023, it has now moved up into the top group, making it one of Germany's leading universities of applied sciences in terms of gender equality.

Specifically, ASH Berlin achieved the highest ranking group in all categories examined:

  • Percentageof full-time academic staff who are women,
  • Proportion of female professors,
  • Increase in the proportion of women among full-time academic staff compared to 2018
  • Increase in the proportion of female professors compared to 2018.

This ranking underlines ASH Berlin's continuous and effective commitment to equality and equal opportunities in science.

"The renewed top position in the CEWS ranking confirms our strategic commitment to a gender-equitable university culture. It is also an incentive to consolidate existing structures and anchor them sustainably," explains Nina Lawrenz, Central Women's* and Gender Equality Officer at ASH Berlin.

The CEWS ranking is based on statistical key figures on gender equality at German universities and is a central instrument for making progress on gender equality in the academic system visible.
