Prof. Dr. Katrin Velten, who teaches on the Bachelor's degree courses in Childhood Education and Childhood Pedagogy - integrated into the profession at ASH Berlin, has been appointed to the jury of the German Daycare Prize . Her research and work focuses on childhood and primary school research with a focus on the transition from nursery to elementary school, children's self-efficacy and participation in research and practice as well as ethics in participatory research.

Commenting on her appointment to the jury of the German Daycare Award, Katrin Velten says: "Working on the jury is a special moment for me: it gives me the opportunity to get to know innovative approaches and make them visible. As a scientist and professor for education in childhood, the examination of adultist structures in research and educational practice is particularly close to my heart. It has long been my goal to consistently question adult-centered structures, attitudes and beliefs scientifically. I am convinced that listening to children, unconditionally acknowledging their perspectives, even if they do not fit into our own adult-centered interpretative frameworks, and consistently incorporating them into quality development, i.e. really taking them seriously as experts in their lifeworld - that means more than just involving them selectively. For this reason, I am committed to involving all children and all families equally in quality development."
