The Transfer_Hub project at ASH Berlin from the BMFTR-funded joint project Campus Transferale held the "campustransformation" symposium in cooperation with TU Berlin on March 27, 2026. In six panels on topics such as creativity and performance, neighborhood and curiosity or belonging and community, many experts reported from their respective fields. Among them were Susanna Eder from ASH-Transfer_Hub, who reported on her body-oriented research approach in the project, and Adam Page, who presented the activities of the residents' advisory board of the Zwischenräume project.
The symposium focused on the transformative potential of university campuses as places of transdisciplinary learning and experimental spaces for socio-ecological transformation. In particular, the roles of well-being, belonging and creativity were explored, especially with regard to the relationship between the location and its surroundings and the people who live there.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the "Berlin School for Transformation". With this competence center for transdisciplinary learning, research and artistic practice, ASH Berlin, TU Berlin and other partners want to develop a new learning and resonance space at the interface of university and society. As part of this, certificate courses are being created that combine academic, artistic and civil society perspectives. They invite students, academics, practitioners and citizens to work together on social challenges. All participants are both teachers and learners.
The keynote speech was given by Uwe Schneidewind, former mayor of the city of Wuppertal and transformation scientist, on the topic of "Transformation as an art of social change". ASH Vice President Gesine Bär and Charlottenburg Mayor Kirstin Bauch reflected on these impulses based on their leadership experience.
Bengisu Berispek, Heidi Grobbauer, Uwe Schneidewind and Olaf Neumann then discussed the ideas of the "Berlin School for Transformation" under the moderation of Wolfgang Stark, before the evening ended with informal discussions. Artistic interventions by Martin Ciesielski and Axxi Oma accompanied the entire event and broke it up creatively time and again.
