Welcome to the higher semester of the BA Social Work!
Moving to another university can sometimes be challenging. However, we will do our best to support you.
Shortly before the start of the semester, an information event is held. Please make a note of the date and try to attend.
The next one is on Wednesday, 17 September from 9:30–10:30 a.m. and will be held online at konferenz.ash-berlin.eu/b/soz-wl3-laf-mru.
Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow students.
Are you a first-semester student on the BA Social Work programme? If so, be sure to come to the orientation days!
Taking place from 1 to 7 October 2025 at ASH Berlin in the Audimax, these events are not to be missed!
The programme includes events for all students of the university, as well as degree-specific ones. The traditional 'Spazierblicke' events are always highly recommended.
The General Student Committee (AStA) also offers its own orientation services each semester. Please visit the corresponding Telegram channel: t.me/KORASH1920
From mid-September onwards, if you already know your student number, you can log in to the course catalogue using your login details (see below) and generate a QR code to create your Campuscard (My Functions – Administration of Studies). You can generate your Campuscard at the machines in rooms 109 and 204.
The Campuscard serves as:
- Student ID (with/without passport photo function),
- library card
- and canteen card of the StudierendenWerk Berlin incl. electronic payment function.
Please note that the Campuscard itself does not contain a VBB ticket. To obtain the digital Deutschland semester ticket, you must also register online.
To log in to the LSF, you will need your student number. This is your username (with three zeros at the beginning: 00012345). Your password is generated from the first three letters of your place of birth and your date of birth (dd.mm.yy). Umlauts (ä, ö, ü, ß) are replaced accordingly (a, o, u, s).
Example: London and March 3, 2001 = lon030301 - Please change your password immediately after your first login.
According to the curriculum, the compulsory English module (3 SWS) is scheduled for the first semester. Students must take the placement test at the beginning of the first semester in order to participate in the module.
The link to the Moodle test and instructions on how to log in can be found on the Language Centre website under 'Einstufung für Bachelor Soziale Arbeit'. The login details for the Moodle platform are the same as those for the LSF (see CampusCard). You will receive the test result immediately.
Make sure you write down the result (CEFR level), as you will need it to select the appropriate English seminar — your level of competence determines which seminar you can choose. The test is available from 1 April or 1 October.
If you are a native speaker (level C2), please email the module leader and head of the Language Centre, Frances Kregler: kregler@ash-berlin.eu.
First-semester students only start attending courses after the orientation days. We will provide you with all the relevant information, including dates and deadlines.
You can register for courses via the course catalogue (LSF). This is expected to be activated in mid-September or March. From then on, you can log in using your access details (see Campuscard).
Familiarising yourself in advance with the electronic document procedure is helpful. You will find all the necessary information on the relevant website from mid-March or mid-October.
You will find all the relevant information about your studies in the Studienhandbuch, e.g. how to use your email address, how to access Wi-Fi, how and when to take courses, and what a project is.
