Good advice in difficult times? Criticism of power and its role in counseling against right-wing extremism
Correctiv's research into the AfD has clearly shown the aims of the party and its extreme right-wing environment. Since then, advice centers against right-wing extremism have seen a further increase in inquiries: more and more people and institutions want to know what they can do against the extreme right and ideologies of inequality - also with regard to their own environment. Counseling centers and other institutions are currently under even greater pressure to position themselves against right-wing extremism and for democracy. Criticism of power and intersectionality can provide new perspectives here.
How can counseling address this successfully? What impulses does mobile counseling against right-wing extremism offer for other counseling centers in the field, for counseling science and for social work? And what are the consequences for marginalized groups when counselling attempts to be „neutral“?
We want to discuss these and other questions in a public expert discussion. As part of the event, an anthology will be presented that the Federal Association of Mobile Counseling and colleagues from the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin have jointly published in 2023.
