The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is celebrated worldwideonMay 17. It commemorates an important human rights milestone: on 17 May 1990, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Since then, this date has symbolized the fight against discrimination and exclusion based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The IDAHOBIT remains highly topical in 2026. Anti-queer and anti-trans discrimination, hate violence and structural disadvantage continue to shape the realities of life for many LGBTIQ* people in Germany and around the world. The current social and political developments require visible solidarity and a determined commitment to human rights and diversity.
The Intersectional Practice and Transformation (InPuT) department at Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin is therefore calling on people to take a clear stand against queer hostility at IDAHOBIT and to take part in actions, events and initiatives.
On behalf of ASH, the InPuT department invites you to raise the Progress rainbow flag together in front of the ASH main building on Alice-Salomon-Platz on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 10 a.m.
