Abstract:
In a three year project partnership, WeTeK Berlin gGmbH and Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences are developing, testing and evaluating an educational science-based and practice-oriented interdisciplinary concept for training artists and cultural workers in the fields of cultural and arts education for children and young people.

The aim of the project is to qualify artists and cultural workers to work with heterogeneous groups in open settings and out-of-school arts and cultural education. This professional training concept is innovative in its participatory approach, its inclusion of artistic methods as a resource for developing didactic concepts, its encouragement of interdisciplinary cooperation, its integration in regional education networks, and in its development of new training formats informed by contemporary approaches to participation, inter- and transculturality, internationality and inclusion.

All three runs (of 11 months each, each with up to 18 participants) will be continuously supervised, analysed and documented by way of a "participant-oriented evaluation" which will employ methods of qualitative and performative research; the results will be discussed with public experts in transfer workshops.

The joint partners of the project have long-standing academic and practical expertise in educational discourse and the development of arts and cultural education for children and young people, as well as in further education and professional training of educators and artists. The project is supported by partners from art associations and educational and cultural institutions, and an advisory board is to be set up. The Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Science and the "Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Berlin e.V." are cooperating partners for sustained distribution, publication and certification as a "profile course."

Funding: The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research - funding focus "Förderung von Entwicklungs- und Erprobungsvorhaben zur pädagogischen Weiterbildung von Kunst- und Kulturschaffenden" (Promotion of Development and Testing Projects for Educational Trainings for Artists and Cultural Workers)
