Abstract:
The Transfer_Hub serves as a temporary network coordination office, facilitating the future-oriented and community-centered development of the university. The Transfer_Hub research team accompanies ASH Berlin's transformation process toward becoming a knowledge-transfer-oriented educational campus in the district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. As one of the two projects within Campus Transferale, the Transfer_Hub team works closely with its aligned pilot projects, Zwischenräume (Interspaces/Spaces In-Between) and Community Spaces, as well as the Service Point for Participatory Research. This ensures that outcomes from the Transfer_Hub are always co-created with society, local stakeholders, and residents of Hellersdorf, while also enabling impulses from the social environment to flow back into the university. The pilot projects, which may grow in number by 2027, serve as direct links to the district and are studied by the Transfer_Hub research team.

The university's strategic transfer goals form the foundation of the Transfer_Hub activities. Experiments explore how ASH Berlin could evolve into a "university of the future," both in spatial and conceptual terms: a university where local residents, lecturers, students, and staff collaborate on solutions. These efforts aim to generate ideas that emerge from and enrich the district while fostering discourses with national and international relevance, extending beyond the confines of ASH Berlin.

Through this process, Marzahn-Hellersdorf is strengthened as a knowledge hub, with the university undergoing a transformation characterized by continuous learning and development. Becoming a "university of the future" also involves broadening perspectives to envision opportunities beyond the immediate local district of Hellersdorf. The project enhances the value, visibility, and accessibility of knowledge-transfer experiences, unlocking and utilizing future potential for co-creation.
