The Ukrainian artist and writer Yevgenia Belorusets was awarded the Alice Salomon Poetics Prize 2025 last year. She is now offering a two-day workshop for students at ASH Berlin on the topics of writing, photography and the relationship between image and text.

Structure of the two-day workshop:

June 7, 2026, 12:00-15:30:

  • Presentation of works by Yevgenia Belorusets and screening of the film "What Will You Do When the War Starts" by Ukrainian artist and director Vladislav Plisetsky
  • Participants develop their own texts and/or images

June 14, 2026, 12:00-14:30 hrs:

  • Participants present the extended versions of their works and discuss them together.

The questions addressed in the workshop include:

  • Can a contemporary document emerge from chaos and the impossibility of saying anything at all?
  • How does the idea of the document or the documentary affect a text or an image?
  • Failed attempts and the temptation of a complete collapse of the narrative.

About Vladislav Plisetsky:

The films by Vladyslav Plisetskyi shown at the workshop are part of his series on war, in which he penetrates and transforms the world of the Ukrainian anarchist queer underground. ArtReview magazine described this series of works as one of the most important artistic explorations of war in the 21st century.

The workshop will be held in German and English and is aimed at ASH students from all degree programs.

The workshop consists of two parts. Those interested are asked to attend both dates (7.6. and 14.6.). Registration is required and is possible until May 31 via the registration button above.
