Two Years of pain: Voices from Gaza and Israel

Audimax

After two years marked by killing, anger and grief, acts of revenge, one-sided narratives, an increasingly polarizing discourse and a dramatic rise in anti Palestinian racism and in antisemitism, Hamza Howidy and Noy Katsman come together to share their personal experiences as activists, as migrants, and as human beings trying to preserve dignity in an ever more dehumanizing reality.

Noy Katsman is an Israeli activist living in in Berlin and Würzburg and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Gender and Cultural Studies. Noy’s brother, Hayim Katsman, was killed on October 7 while living on Kibbutz Holit near the Gaza border. Hayim was a leftist scholar who warned of the dangers of religious Zionism. In his writing, he emphasized: “It is only through struggle that we can build the world we desire, a world in which Israelis and Palestinians are able to live full lives as equals under the law.”

Hamza Howidy is a Palestinian peace activist from Gaza, now living in Germany as a refugee. He has been arrested and tortured multiple times by Hamas for his opposition to their practices and his participation in demonstrations. Hamza speaks out against both Hamas and the Israeli occupation, calling instead for universal human rights and a just future for all.

The Event will be moderated by Vered Berman.
